Winter season must-haves!!!! 10 tips to survive the cold

October 14, 2020

I know I’m not the only one here who can’t survive the cold, it almost feels like I’m never warm enough but don’t worry, I got a list of tips that will at least keep you not only warm but cozy.

#1

Keep an extra pair of socks or sweater at all times. I recently got into this habit of forgetting a sweater in my car or fuzzy socks in my book bag and I’ll tell you on a cold day your glad you forgot about it. It’s a total lifesaver so just put it their anyways, same thing with keeping an extra pair of gloves or even a scarf. It will help you out in the long run.

#2

May seem like a simple tip, but not everyone does it. Sleeping at night can be tough when either the heat isn’t high enough or your blanket isn’t thick enough. I have tons of little blankets I keep at the end of my bed that keep in an ottoman, for nights like these or even for company. So double up! I always sleep with one little blanket on me and a comforter on top. You won’t have deal with that ice cold comforter all over your body ever again, unless you move around in your sleep like me, at least the first couple of hours are good.

This tip is only for drivers!!! Start warming up your car… I don’t do it either but you really need to start. If you got up and have 20 minutes to get ready for work in the morning like me, the first thing you could do is run outside and turn on your car and start that heat. The thing I despise most about the winter is getting inside my ice cold car, starting to drive and the air blasting out of the vents makes you feel colder than when you were outside. If you want to try your best to avoid the cold, this tip is crucial.

#4

Get “outside slippers”, the other day my cousin and I were on the phone and she mentioned this to me and I had an epiphany. You wouldn’t believe for how long I was just running outside with either newer UGG boots or a pair of slides with socks. We all know once it begins to snow running outside is the worst!! Imagine having a reasonable pair of slippers for moments like these, or even for walking around the house. If you live in a household where shoes aren’t allowed inside like me, slippers are an exception. Now to keep your house clean in this case, your gonna need to wipe your feet on an indoor mat. Or I don’t even mind having wipes by the door and just giving the bottom of my shoes a wipe down. Let’s remember we don’t take outside slippers to the store. I simply need them for checking the mail or if I forget my glasses in my car for the 40th time.

#5

Drink warm liquids… I like water too but sometimes when I’m freezing that doesn’t help. That doesn’t mean I want to be drinking less water and getting my daily liquid intake with coffee and hot cocoa. Try drinking tea, there are all kinds of yummy tasting ones, black tea is a good alternative to coffee. You can even try warm water with a slice of lemon, maybe even throw some ginger in there to help prevent any sickness. Try your best to get creative with it!

If you have long hair, keep it long! It’s gonna keep your neck warm. If your considering growing out your hair the winter is the time to do it. I cut mine the most in the summer. I know the issue with long hair is keeping it in good shape this winter. If you have curly hair the chances are it’s gonna get dry easily, so if you want some tips on how to keep your curly hair looking good this winter so you can be able to wear it down as a scarf and have it looking nice… here’s the link

Finger-less gloves? I know their not always the fashion trend you want to hop on maybe this winter season. But when your cold and do a lot with your hands whether your blogging like me, or even just any day activity where you need to have your hands exposed unless your washing them, why not get a pair. I personally don’t like the ones that have a touch feature so you can use your phone they never work for me. But why not buy some solid colors like a black, grey and brown just try to match it up with every outfit, or just have it in your bag to throw on if needed.

#8

I know a lot of you love a hot shower in the morning and keep it up if that’s what you prefer, but I much rather do it at night, or of course after the gym. Winter mornings are the worst, and even though it may have been steaming in that bathroom as soon as you have to run to your room the freezing cold air comes up and bites you. If you want to start moving some things around to have a more comfortable shower you could start now! Or if anything get a space heater and warm up the bathroom an 1 hr before you go in, and make sure the window is closed. An easier tip would have the window closed the night before and put a small towel near the crack to keep any air from coming in.

PS: Just try and make sure the heat is on in your room this way your not facing the cold too much.

#9

Having a warm lunch, or something warm to balance it out. When breakfast rolls around some cereal could be an option, but what about oatmeal, or even farina? When lunch time shows up you can have soup, or soup and a sandwich, that way something warm to balance out the cold. It’s up to you, but I know the colder it is, the more I crave something a little bit warmer to help warm me up.

#10

Snuggle up! This one is almost similar to the second one, but why not have an emergency blanket? Sure you have some ready for bed, but what if you kept one in your car or at the office. Just so when you get to cold you can throw it on and snuggle up. I have yet to put one in my car, and I certainly will cause the winter is looking a little cold for me.

Hope you enjoyed these tips, and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog for 1 or 2 blog posts a day. Catch you later 😉
